The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is an initiative of the Australian Government administered by Diabetes Australia.
The scheme provides information services and a range of free or subsidised Government approved products. These include blood and urine testing strips, syringes, needles and insulin pump consumables at subsidised prices to people with diabetes who register for its benefits.
The level of subsidy is even greater for pensioners and health care card holders.
To register with NDSS applicants must be diagnosed with diabetes and hold (or be eligible to hold) a Medicare card and live in Australia.
Eligible persons can only be registered by their doctor or a credentialed diabetes educator. Application forms are available from selected National Pharmacies stores (see below). Registration is free for eligible persons.
