National Pharmacies employs three Community Health Nurses. Their experiences include hospital acute, community and midwifery nursing. The nurses conduct health promotion clinics in all our 56 pharmacies, which allows them to consult between 300 - 400 customers per week. Immediate results are available and can be forwarded to their designated doctor as a courtesy by National Pharmacies. At all times privacy and confidentiality are maintained in a professional manner. The clinics are conducted as set out in the schedules below. However, on Wednesdays, product knowledge regarding machines, guidelines set out by the Heart Foundation and Diabetes Association are updated. Programs for education of members and staff are developed.
Individual Health Promotion days are also provided to customers including ongoing Asthma awareness and education, education of Mothers with regards to caring for themselves as well as their babies. Further Health Promotion days are being developed.
We have a professional relationship and alliance with groups such as Heart Foundation, Diabetes Association, Asthma SA, Women's and Children's Hospital as well as Sports Medicine Australia (SA Branch). The service is free for our members otherwise it is $9.90 for Cholesterol Screening and $4.95 for Blood Glucose Screening. Blood pressure is taken at no extra cost with all screenings.
