UPDATE: Covid-19

CEO UPDATE: COVID-19

2 April 2020

SA Health confirmed on Thursday (2 April) that it has conducted thorough interviews and investigations to determine who is at risk.  It confirms that it did not identify any customers as being at risk.

  • The Health Department advises that customers were not at risk because they did not meet the “close” contact guidelines Of:
    • Being in a face to face setting for greater than 15 minutes
      or
    • Sharing a closed space with the employee for a prolonged period (i.e. longer than 2 hours in the same room.
      AND
    • With this occurring in the period extending from 24 hours before the onset of symptoms in the person concerned.
  • Of course, should you develop symptoms of a cough, sore throat, fatigue or flu type symptoms you should seek medical advice.
  • The Findon store was professionally cleaned/sanitized before it was reopened for trade. This occurred as soon as we became aware of the confirmed COVID-19.
  • General advice to avoid any unnecessary social contact, practice good hand hygiene and seek medical attention if you are feeling unwell should be followed at all times.

National Pharmacies places the highest priority on the health and wellbeing of its staff members and members, along with all those who come into our stores.

One of our staff at the Findon store this week tested positive to COVID-19. She is in isolation and is recovering at home.

This staff member contracted the virus outside of National Pharmacies through a link to the Adelaide Airport cluster of infections.

We continue to take all necessary precautions to protect other staff, our members and customers. The store was immediately forensically sanitised overnight on Tuesday (31 March) by specialist cleaners and is staffed by team members from other stores.

All others who worked with the staff member in the period that she was infectious are in isolation at the direction of SA Health and are being tested for COVID-19 as appropriate.

We continue to work closely with SA Health to identify anyone else who may have had contact with the team member who tested positive.

Our goal to keep everyone safe and well during the COVID-19 pandemic is reflected in new measures that include acrylic serving screens and protocols that are in place in all stores for your protection and that of our team.

I encourage you to view our YouTube video of advice on how to stay safe against COVID-19. You will find it here.

Any customers who visited our Findon store on Sunday 29 March and Monday 30 March, who have become unwell should contact the SA COVID19 Information Line – 1800 253 787

Stay safe and thank you for your ongoing support.

I would like to reiterate our unwavering focus on the health and safety of our members, our customers, our team members and the wider community.

At this time we are seeking your assistance to ensure we can continue to deliver high quality service and support to all our valued customers.

Please do not visit the pharmacy: if you are unwell, tested positive to COVID-19 or are currently in isolation due to travel restrictions or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. We have implemented the Australian government’s Home Medicine Service for free delivery of PBS medications to eligible customers. Click here to check your eligibility.

When in store: please adhere to social distancing measures. These have been implemented to ensure the health and safety of all customers and our team members.

As always, we appreciate your patience and cooperation as the entire National Pharmacies team work tirelessly to provide expert service and advice for the health and wellbeing needs of every customer.

24th March 2020

Good morning Members,

For over 100 years our focus has been the health and well-being of our staff, our members and the wider community. Today, we all face new challenges and this means you will see some changes within our stores as we follow the recommendations of the Health Department.

As pharmacy is an essential service, we will remain open to support you and your medication needs.

Social Distancing

We are implementing changes within our stores to ensure social distancing measures are adhered to. These measures are essential to protect you and our teams who are there to support you.

Self-Reporting

For your safety our team members may ask questions relating to your recent travel and / or any symptoms you may currently be experiencing. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please immediately report to a member of staff.

Please do not be offended if a member of the team asks you to place on a mask while in store. This is for your personal safety and for those around you.

Suspension of Non Essential Services

We will also be suspending all non-essential services. These include:

    • Impromy consultations
    • MedsChecks
    • Beauty Treatments
    • Sleep trials
    • And more.

Important note, the administering of the 2020 Season Flu Vaccination will continue. Please book online.

Due to high demand clinics may be booked out. We will continue to add additional clinics as stocks are replenished. If you cannot find a suitable time, please contact your local National Pharmacies store as walk-ins may be available.

Home Medicine Service

For your convenience, we would like to remind you of our home delivery options. We can also assist those of you in isolation to manage your prescription medication via MedAdvisor and/or holding your prescriptions on file. More information about these services are on our website or you can talk to a team member in store.

Please be patient with us as we work through these changes. The in-store teams are working extraordinarily hard and we appreciate your understanding and patience during this difficult time.

Stay safe and thank you for your ongoing support

March 17, 2020

Good afternoon Members,

On behalf of the team at National Pharmacies I wanted to personally reach out and provide an update on the actions National Pharmacies is undertaking in the ever-changing situation of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The safety, health and wellbeing of our members, our people and our wider community continue to be our priority.

Please be assured that senior leaders in our organisation are actively monitoring COVID-19 developments in line with the Australian Governments and World Health Organisations recommendations. We convene regularly to evaluate our position and to determine our ongoing response as the situation unfolds.

We will continue to provide updates, guidance and support to our wider community through various channels, with all information available on our website (www.nationalpharmacies.com.au) or on our social channels.

We are continually communicating with our teams to ensure our stores are cleaned and sanitised regularly, reducing unnecessary contact between people, including cancelling all beauty events.

As a health care provider, our role extends to supporting our communities with health services and providing accurate information and advice about this public health event. Your patience and support of our store teams is greatly appreciated in these times.

Stay safe and thank you for your ongoing support.
